I swear computers were invented to make me cry

So I finally got my laptop back which is super exciting. yay! But it took me 4 hours and a phone call to Shaw in order to get internet. But now we have internet set up and that's awesome. Which means I can probably start doing more regular posting again.

The 3 month itch

That's right it's been 3 months since I've been to work. Everyone tells me that I should take it slow but now that I'm starting to feel a little bit better I want to jump right in with both feet. I've been having a little trouble with staying on task the last couple of days though, hopefully that will get better. Anyways I've got 4 weeks of treatment left and then hopefully I'll be ready to go back. I'm just getting bored.

Oh I wish I had my laptop back. I've been using my brother's computer to do stuff but it's really really really slow and crappy and I miss the portability. I've considered getting a wireless card for my desktop but then I think what's the point since I won't use it once my laptop comes back. Have I mentioned that I hate computers.

update to arrg...

I talked to the company that I bought my computer from and they said that they were able to ship it off to the manufacturer today. Hooray.

The Mid Summer update.

I know it's been a while since my last post but a couple of things have been happening. First is the still unresolved computer issue. The second is that I've started a new treatment for my illness so I have to go to the hospital every day. Don't worry though it's just until things stabilize a little bit. But anyway that's why I haven't been around much.

I have been reading up a storm though. I've been thinking that maybe I should start a book club. It was be more of a social activity than I'm used to and I DO love to read. Anyone interested?

arrg...

So you know how I was saying last year that I love my laptop well now I don't. It's got major crashage issues and because I decided not to run internet into my bedroom and just went wireless I don't have internet so I stuck using my brother's crap-puter. No seriously this thing is a piece of junk and he's constantly trying to download stuff so it's always really slow. And the company I bought my computer from is having trouble communicating with the company that made my computer and I'm stuck in the middle sans computer.

I miss the old days. When life was simple and my parents fought my battles for me. Or at least owned everything I used so they were responsible for getting things fixed.

The Update

Alright there has been a lot of stuff going on recently so I'm just going to try to throw everything into this one post.
  • On the illness front I'm still off work. I'm hoping to return late this summer or early fall but we'll see what the doctor says.
  • My laptop is broken. Well not completely broken but it's randomly shutting down for no reason and I haven't been able to get it down to the shop for repairs yet. It's only started doing this since we got back from our trip.
  • I currently have 3 books on the go. That's reading not writing. One is the next Diana Gabaldon book from the Outlander series. One is a history of Scotland and one is a romance novel that I borrowed from the library.
  • I got a new cat. and by new I mean new like I got him today new. The Humane Society had a sale on cats and since I wanted a new one anyway this seemed like the perfect opportunity. I've named him Davey Crockcat. Yes I'm just that geeky.

Who Needs Two Computers Anyway?

It's times like these that I'm really glad that I went out and bought myself a notebook computer. It looks like I really messed up my desktop. My technologically inclined brother says it's either a power source issue or a motherboard issue. Both of which are going to cost a pretty penny to fix.

You see I accidentally unplugged my computer while it was on. It's kind of a long story which involves the speakers that it's attached to and my annoyance with sounds when I'm sleeping. But it's really going to mess with my morning routine which includes things like watching stuff that I've downloaded and checking my e-mail. I can do that last one easily enough, but damn.

Reminder to myself that change is good

I don't like change. I never have. When I was 9 my parents got a new dining room set and I cried. I've obviously learned to deal with change a little bit better than that. I've moved away from home to go to school, I've lived in 3 different homes in the last 5 years and I've started a career in my chosen field (I think, but that's a story for another time).

One thing that has been constant for nearly 2 years is my computer desktop background it has been the same picture of Novak Djokovic since about December of 2006. Last night a changed it to a Spanish soccer player. Obviously I'm going insane and I hope that once this Euro thing is over I can go back to being normal again. Or at least a normal as I was before. However given my aversion to changing my desktop I probably won't be changing this one for a while either.

For the record my work desktop is Conner Atchley of the Texas Longhorns basketball team and my laptop background is one of the windows backgrounds, which I will likely change now that I've set up my laptop for internet.

Do I love my new computer? Why, yes I do thanks for asking.

I’ve started this particular entry about 3 times now. Once on my computer at work, once on my desktop computer and now finally on my notebook. Which brings me to what was generally the start of this entry. As most of you know by now I just purchased a new notebook computer. I’ve wanted a laptop since the day I graduated from University. I am aware that normal people purchase laptops when they start University to facilitate in class note taking. However I had a computer when I started University and then after going the three used computers I finally bought a desktop, or rather mommy bought me a desktop. The reason that I went with the desktop was because at the time I didn’t see the need for a laptop.

Once I graduated and started working in an office I realized that the last thing I want to do when I come home is to sit at a desk and use a computer. I also realized that I DO spend a good portion of my time at the computer, either chatting online, doing coursework, playing games and yes occasionally, blogging. As a result I decided to buy myself a new computer that I could use while I do all sorts of ridiculous stuff like watching sports. It will also come in handy when it comes to going out to the farm for the weekend as I will be able to bring whatever I happen to be working on with me. God I love this thing.
