I always forget how boring it is here

I came out to the farm for the weekend, because today is Mother's Day and I hadn't been home for a while. But now I'm about ready to go back to the city. It's not like I would be doing anything more at home than I can do here but it just seems a lot more boring.

Now that my parents are hooked up for wireless I can get internet on my laptop but it's slow internet so it probably going to take a whole night to download anything. I'm not really feeling like watching a movie and it's only like half an hour now until the hockey game starts. The Canucks really need to win this one.

Really I just don't feel like doing much of anything. I tried to take a nap this afternoon but that wasn't happening so I ended up catching up on episodes of the Vampire Diaries and Castle. But now I'm out of episodes and like I said the download speeds here suck ass.

One more thing before I leave, I really must watch my expression around my mom. She's very perceptive and as much as I love here there are just some things that I'm not ready to tell her yet or maybe ever.

Why do I only do this stuff when I'm alone

When I was a kid I used to love all sorts of paranormal ghost-y, UFO, crytozoology stuff. I always thought it was really cool. We used to have this book in the library that dealt with all of that stuff and my name was all over that sign-out card. As I got older I found that I didn't have nearly as much time for it as I used to.

So there is this show that deals with these sort of things ghostly and demonic called Paranormal State, where these college students investigate weird phenomena. I don't even know if the show is still making new episodes or if I'm just watching back episodes but anyway it seems like I only watch this show when I'm alone. For example, my brother is away this week so I'm alone in our loud apartment. I make sure not to watch it at night because I know how things I'm thinking about just before bed tend to seep into my dreams. But even so I find that when I wake up in the night I get a little spooked which is weird because I'm not actually afraid at all when I'm watching the show.

Well that sucked

So for the last couple of weeks I've been spending my Friday nights watching Miss America: Countdown to the Crown on TLC. The actual Miss America pageant was last night and I watched it while flipping back to the NHL All-Star Skills competition.

I found that after watching these girls for 4 weeks I started to pick out some favorites. The same thing happened last year when they did a reality show for last year's pageant. Last year I really wanted Miss Indiana to win, this year I wanted anyone but Miss Indiana to win. And who do you think won? Oh right Indiana. But then I knew after the talent portion that she was going to win. I just found her a little annoying and kind of odd looking. I mean I guess she was pretty but in a non-traditional way. Also every time her name was called she looked like she was going to fall over. I mean okay you can be surprised but really this was a little over the top.

I'm losing my mind

The hardest part of the whole post-a-day thing is remembering to do it on weekends. I'm terrible for that. If my internet wasn't connected to my laptop I wold have forgotten to post all together. It's a little easier to remember during the week because everytime I need to look up something online for work I have a reminder to post.

I don't actually have anything interesting to say at the moment. I get the feeling that this is going to be another one of those lazy weekends spent watching tv and playing games.

Since when do we get Around the Horn?

For about 2 years I have been downloading Around the Horn podcasts so that I can listen to them on my way to work. For the same amount of time I have been complaining about the fact that this show doesn't air in Canada.

As it turns out it is on in Canada. I don't know how long is has been going on but the other day when I turned on my TV there was Tony Reali and the rest of the gang doing their sports talkshow thing.

To be honest it's not the greatest show and I actually think I enjoyed the disembodies voices better but Reali is hot. I don't care if he just got married he's still hot.

Sucks in the City

I’m conflicted. I don’t think this should be a surprise to anyone. Hell I’m probably conflicted 80 percent of the time. This particular instance of conflict however is about a certain television show that is opening as a movie soon. I had never seen Sex and the City until I moved into residence. One of the girls who I had considered at the time had purchased or rented or borrowed a copy of the complete first season and I watched a few episodes of the show with her.

I didn’t really think about it much until my last year of university (outside of watching a few more episodes on TBS), when I downloaded the complete series one day when I was bored. I guess I finally caved into peer pressure on that one because when it really comes down to it I don’t really like the show all that much.

First of all, who the hell talks like that? Call me a prude if you want but those are not the kind of conversations I have with my girlfriends. As far as I’m concerned its none of anyone’s business what goes on in the privacy of my bedroom or wherever such relations may occur. Secondly I never found the show funny it was pointed out to me the other day in another blog that I read that the writing in the show revolves around puns and cliché, neither of which are high on my comedy list.

The thing is I find that I end up watching it anyway. Mostly because there just isn’t anything on TV. But that’s probably a topic for a different blog entry. So therein lies my conflict, as much as I outwardly say that I dislike the show and yet I watch it at least once a week so I can’t possibly hate it THAT much.
