I'm boring

So I had set up some goals for the month of February . Let's see how far I got.

Finish reading Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon. I'm currently on page 135 of 1070. I'm probably about half way through now. I actually lost my book for a while so I couldn't read it and I also read another book in between. Haven't really been in a reading mood lately to tell you the truth.

Finish watching Season 4 of Weeds. Done and Done. I finished this, caught up on The Tudors and have started watching Big Love. Yeah I'm weird and clearly have a lot of time on my hands.

Research and determine 3 grad schools to apply for. This one amuses me since I'm almost ready to give up on grad school. Taking the monetary hit, plus the whole fear of not finding a job when I'm done. But we'll see what happens. It depends how the next couple of weeks go I guess.

Set a tentative date for the GRE. This one goes right along with the last one.

Watch some college hoops. Done. I watched the Duke-UNC game a couple of weeks ago, the Texas-Oklahoma game and one other Duke game this past weekend. Other than that I've spent a lot of time watching curling.

Finish sewing the dress I started last year. I've thought about this a couple of times but I never did pull it out to finish it.

Buy and elliptical machine or a bike. I'm now waiting until I move to do this one. No point in buying something just to move it 2 weeks later.

So that's how I did for February. I'm planning to go back to the regular goal of the week, for March. So we'll see how that goes.

I guess I'm turning into a shoe girl

This has been the most ridiculous week. Actually the last couple of weeks have been pretty crazy. But anyway like a typical girl I decided that the best way to get over my problems was to go shopping. Oddly enough yesterday was also a pay day so I had just finished paying down my credit card bill.

So I went on a bit of a shopping spree. I bought some new tops and a new dress, two necklaces, a new bag and wallet and these shoes which I love because they go with everything.

Goal of the Week

So I haven't done a goal of the week in quite some time. This is mostly because I was in give up and do nothing phase. I have this problem with goals. When I set a goal I have every intention of achieving that goal. When I do it's not so much an accomplishment as it is an expectation, when I don't achieve my goal I tend to berate myself. So in some way doing a goal of the week is actually more likely to be a knock against my self confidence rather than a boost to it. That said let's move on to my new goal.

Oh and normally I do this on a Friday night but I'm doing it today because I have the day off tomorrow so it's the start of my weekend now. Okay NOW we can move on to my goal of the week. This week I intend to finish sewing the dress I started way back in February. I've only got the sleeves and the bottom hem to do and then it's done. The secondary goal is to buy a digital camera so that I can post a picture of the finished product.

As for the previous goal of the week I do intend to get my glasses fixed this week. Finally.

The Shopping Spree

Normally I'm not a very fun shopper. I'm a get in, get out girl. I hate browsing. But every once in a while I have to remind myself why I force myself to go to work everyday. Sure I just bought a laptop, and yes I'm planning a trip to Scotland next summer but in the meantime it can't be all work and no play.

So today as the beginning of a long weekend of me watching tennis I decided to treat myself a little. I tried on a lot of clothes and only came out with a little and a couple of pairs of shoes. Did I need any of this stuff? Absolutely not. Did it get me out of the apartment for a while that wasn't going to work? Yes.

I didn't actually spend that much money. I know some girls who own purses that cost more than what I spent, but for me it's a big deal because it was really on a whim. I had no intention of going shopping tonight but I looked at my clock at around 6 and said "holy crap it's only 6, I need to do something". And a shopping spree was born. Oh I also had a little excursion when I missed my turnoff and got a little lost. But even that was relaxing.

Well That makes me feel better.

Just yesterday I was saying how bad I felt about changing college basketball boyfriends so quickly. But today not so much. This is a story that even the boys at work could enjoy even if they don't understand the full implications of the story.

As you know I had chosen David McClure of Duke as my college basketball boyfriend. I've since switched but that doesn't really matter to my story. So today I got off the bus on my way to work and walked through the square as I always do and there was a pretty grubby looking guy (I want to say bum but he wasn't really) wearing a Duke jacket.

Even funnier though was on the back where it was supposed to say Blue Devils, Devils had been cut out. The word had actually been cut out of the jacket leaving a rectangular hole in the back where the jacket lining was showing.

Well I feel sheepish

This morning I decided to wear a dress to work. I suppose if I look back on it the decision was made last night when I decided I was too lazy to do laundry. Anyway so I found out that I had it on backwards when I went to the washroom and noticed that it wasn't fitting quite right. The problem is that this dress is one of the ones you slip over your head so there's no zipper to tell you that you're wearing it wrong. Additionally it was a little big when I bought it so I had it tailored and the tag was removed. So they're no way to know which way to put it on unless you look in a mirror and I was running a little behind this morning so I didn't really have time to examine it closely.

But it's fixed now and it looks much better. But I feel kind of silly now, instead of the confident, powerful business woman look I was trying to portray.
