So much Hotness

I have a co-worker who is not really into sports so I started to introduce her to the various very fit, attractive athletes in the sports world. We call this "Hottie of the Day".

It seemed like a good idea at the time but now we're 3 weeks in and I'm having trouble both coming up with someone each day and remembering who I've already done. It also doesn't help that I am pretty familiar with most of the hot hockey players, a good number of the football players, I know where to go to get my soccer player fix, but I am extremely fuzzy on basketball and baseball.

Any thoughts? Is this something I should institute for the blog too?

I need a verdict

All right folks here's a question I've been struggling with for some a while. Cristiano Ronaldo is a an amazing soccer player, I don't think anyone argues this point. But I can't decide if he's hot or if he's just a giant douche. My opinion seems to change depending on the picture.

The man does have an amazing body and isn't shy about letting the world know it.And he sure is pretty. See the following example:

But I find hat when he's not half naked he's either

  1. carrying a man bag (well he is European but still)
  2. wearing too much hair gel
  3. or making hideous fashion choices

You can find prime examples of these by doing a quick google image search but here's a couple to start:

So please vote in my poll and help me take a stance on C-Ron.

Because the Joe Mauer tag doesn't get enough use

Baseball season is upon us once again, I know that technically it started a couple of weeks ago but, I freaking hate baseball. I know I mention it every time I talk about baseball but I really think that it can't be said enough.

Anyway you'll also know by now if you've been following my blog for any amount of time that my baseball boyfriend is Joe Mauer of the Minnesota Twins. It's been a while since I've bothered to mention his hotness so I thought since I had nothing else to talk about that perhaps it was time to bring him up again. Just in case you're trying to find some reason to watch baseball this year. So here he is just doing his job and also in eye-black. YUM!

It's College Basketball Time

It's that wonderful time of year again. The time where I spend 4 days a week on my couch watching every possible college basketball game I can get my eyes on.

Although for some reason I'm not quite as excited this year. Yeah I filled out a couple of brackets and yes I did do my "hotness bracket" again this year but for some reason it just doesn't feel the same. Both my hotness bracket and my real bracket predict a Kansas victory.

And who is this year's hottest player? Purdue's Chris Kramer. You may remember him as the guy who looks like Keith. There are actually a lot of look a-likes this year. I pronounce "he looks like..." several times as I made my way through the teams.

Anyway I'll be sure to keep you updated as to how my bracket is doing. Are you doing anything to celebrate the NCAA Tournament?

Pre-Olympic Reminder

The Olympics start on Friday. I'm not quite ramped up for them yet but I expect I'll get there soon. But I thought I should mention that my "curling boyfriend"* Marc Kennedy will be competing in his first Olympics as part of Team Canada. Oh also it was his birthday last week. Did anyone else notice that he lists country as his favorite type of music. This is anotherone of those the more you know the more you like them situations.

I borrowed this picture from someone else. Hey I don't put this stuff on the interwebs I just find it and use it. Hey at least I'm giving credit. Don't judge me.

So Go Canada!

*Not my actual boyfriend. I have a "boyfriend" for nearly every sport I won't get into it right now but ask me about it if you want to know more. Also for the record I'm not a stalker, I have my own life to attend to thank you very much.

Athlete Crush of the Day

Alright I think you all have realized by now that when it comes to athletes I'm pretty fickle. About a month ago I had a huge crush on Marc Kennedy. Last summer during Euro 2008 it was all about Fernando Torres. Who could forget my love of Jay Cutler? And as far as baseball goes I think everyone will agree that Joe Mauer is super hot.

So yeah my athlete crushes come and go. This week it's Chris Pontius of D.C. United. Again I know nothing about soccer but hell I might just have to learn. I stole this picture from Kickette which provides regular gossip on all things soccer related.

Connor Atchley, you will be missed.

One of the problems with college sports this that eventually the players that's you've grown attached to graduate or leave college. Sometimes they join the pro ranks and you might see them play again. Sometimes they decide that it's time to move on with their lives.
In any case the Duke-Texas game was going to end badly for me either way as both Connor Atchley and David McClure were playing in the game. Neither of them are big names so I somehow doubt they'll end up playing pro but you never know. Both of them are seniors this year so this is the end of the line for them. Duke came out on top in that game and so today I say goodbye to Connor Atchley.

Oh curling I've missed you

So it's Brier time again. For anyone who has missed me saying it before I used to curl. Not very well but hey I tried. But I do love watching curling. Especially men's curling. Women's is okay but they just don't make the same kind of shots that the men do. They also don't seem to make as many of the tough shots as the men do but then again maybe that's just a percentage thing.

If you're not so inclined to the strategy of the game well then there's always the men to check out. Some of my personal favorites include:

Brad Gushue - Skip - Newfoundland & Labrador

John Morris - Third - Alberta

Marc Kennedy - Second - Alberta

You'll also notice that Marc is a lefty which earns him double hot points. But spells his name with a "c" which is just wrong. Anyway at the moment Alberta is leading the standings as they have no losses, followed by Ontario, Newfoundland & Labrador and Manitoba.

Well at least someone agrees with me

The last couple of days I have been a bit of a Debbie Downer about my work situation. But you know at least I'm not the only one who sees it. It may not be a ringing endorsement of my persistent bitching but, knowing that I'm not alone in my outrage makes me feel just a little bit better about being outraged.

Anyway I'm sure you're all sick of hearing me complain so instead I'll just offer this picture of Larry Fitzgerald who likely would have been the Superbowl MVP if Arizona would have won instead of just looking hot in a suit.

How did I forget about this?

Thank god for NaBloPoMo. I have been scratching my head all morning about what I should post today and randomly clicking on random blogs to help me out. When I clicked on Kicketteand saw a picture from some soccer awards thing when I remembered another picture that I had saved from that site quite a while ago, which I have labeled "greatest picture ever" I still know exactly nothing about soccer but at least I can identify some of the players. I know that is Rafael Nadal in the middle, not looking as hot as usual but I'll forgive him. Iker Casillas is on the far left, Sergio Ramos in the hat on the right of Rafa and of course David Beckham on the far right.

How I spent my Winter Vacation

As I'm sure I've mentioned several times I've been off work for the last 5 days. So what have I been doing?

Well I've been playing the Sims2, which passes the time quite nicely. Don't worry I'm not one of those people who trying to make a new life for them self in the game. I just like to see what kind of new challenges I can make up. I never play 2 sims the same way.

I've finished watching the 4th season of House. It's one of those shows that I really only watch when I can't come up with anything better to do. I've watched the first 4 seasons now and I'm still not sure if I like it. But I must if I keep watching it.

Also I've watched every televised game of the World Junior Hockey championships except for the one Sweden-Russia game on New Year's eve day. I was at work for that one. Well most of it, I was on lunch for part of it. Congrats to Canada on taking home the gold.

And finally I watched the entire 7th season of Smallville. I generally like Smallville but I can't be bothered trying to keep up with when new episodes are or when it's changed to a new time. Also I know that my younger brother will be getting the most recent season on DVD for Christmas. You know what I like about Smallville, besides trying to find inconsistencies with previous seasons ("continuity error"), the men they find for this show. First it was Tom Welling who is totally hot. Then Jensen Ackles who played Jason Teauge. Any one remember when he played Sammy's twin on Days of Our Lives? I was smitten. And then there was Justin Hartley (see right), who was Fox Crane on Passions before he was on Smallville as the Green Arrow/Oliver Queen.

Just for the record I watched Days of Our Lives in high school but haven't seen an episode since and as for Passions I don't watch that one either but I did see the very first episode of the show ever so I thought perhaps I owed it just a little bit of loyalty.

Just to Cleanse the Palate

Alright as we can see from my previous posts I tend to be kind of single minded. But in honor of a certain co-worker's new shirt here is some Joe Maurer of the Minnesota Twins. Have I mentioned I hate baseball? But I like baseball players. Oh and he's 6'5 so he's both age and height appropriate.

Is there anything hotter than an athlete doing stuff with little kids. Yes, I realize that sounds really bad but you know what I meant.

It's Olympics Time

Surprisingly I'm not so into the Olympics this year I blame it on Canada kind of sucking so far. Seriously win a medal already. I have however discovered my gymnastics crush a place that was previously unfilled until last night. I was watching the Men's team finals which Canada failed to qualify for. Fabien Hambuchen of Germany fell during his high bar routine which was kind of sad. But he's good looking so it's okay. He's also a favorite in the high bar apparatus final, which I will attempt to watch as long as it's not in the middle of the night.

By the way, Canada is still medal less.

I almost forgot

Sunday marked yet another impressive win for Rafael Nadal . This time in Toronto which is about as close as I'll ever get to him. If he does well this week then he could be the new world number 1. Which would be awesome. Also I'm not so sure how Rafa manages to stand up straight carrying that much extra muscle on his left side.

1986 was a Good Year

On the heels of Rafa winning Wimbledon I’m reminded that ‘s only 22. This is a bit of a problem for me as my younger brother is also 22 making 22 my lower guy limit. However I’m also reminded that there are a whole lot of age-inappropriate hotties of this age. I’ve actually been meaning to write this for a while and just never really got around to it.

We’ll start with Rafael Nadal since he’s fresh on my mind. Okay so this is maybe not the best picture I’ve ever seen of him but he’s holding the Wimbledon championship trophy so that’s hot. He’s also a 4 time French Open champion and you’ll remember that the French is my favorite of all the majors.

Speaking of french here's another tennis player, Richard Gasquet. I'm not really sure what it is about him that I find attractive exactly but I think he's cute.

Moving on. Cam Barker of the Chicago Blackhawks. I always have a bit of an issue trying to remember how old these guys are come Christmas time when the Canadian Junior Hockey team is kicking butt. Anyway Cam is a good ol' Manitoba boy. He also played for the Medicine Hat Tigers in Junior. They were one of my favorite junior teams because I won a Medicine Hat Tigers ball cap from their website and they actually shipped it to me.

Calgary Flames goal prospect Matt Keetley. I'm not going to lie I had to do a smidgen of research for this one. I couldn't have more tennis players than hockey players in here. But apparently 1987 was the year for very attractive hockey players.

David McClure of the much hated Duke Blue Devils basketball team. I discovered him last year during the NCAA championships when I was doing hotness match ups. I don’t really have much else to say here. He looks way better in a suit. Oh he was my first College Basketball boyfriend.

Sergio Ramos, soccer player from Spain. This one I’m just a little bit conflicted on. I have seen pictures where he looks hot. But I have also seen pictures where I feel a little bit sick after looking at them and remembering that I thought he was hot. So I don’t know which way I’m leaning on this one.

I’m sure I’m missing a whole bunch of people. But these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

As I’m writing this I’m also realizing that 1987 was maybe even a little better. I may have to get around to doing a similar post of this fashion for that year. Although I will feel a WHOLE lot creepier about it.

Never going to even suggest that I fake sick ever again

So some of you will know (because I have yet to stop talking about it today) that the Russia-Spain Semi-final was yesterday. The day before yesterday I was joking about faking sick so that I could stay home and watch the game because I had a horrible time trying to find a good Internet feed for the first semi. As it turned out I was home to watch the game yesterday but I really was sick and missed large chunks of the game.

Not that I can actually evaluate this but as far as I can tell Spain looked pretty darn good during that game. Now if only they can beat Germany in the final. And now for the fun stuff. I don't know if you guys have noticed but I've kind of become a fan of Fernando Torres. Me and every other female soccer fan who likes tall blondes with chiseled jaws and rock hard abs. Some people have issues with his hair, personally I just want to run my fingers through it.

Euro 2008: Germany

As is often the case when I decided to do something like this I'm both getting bored and feeling pressured to finish before it becomes irrelevant. As a result I'm becoming more strict about what I'm going to post in terms of hotness. If it's even semi-questionable it's not going in.
